VRFA Blotter May 4-10, 2020

Below are just a few of the calls the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to for the week of May 4-10, 2020.  VRFA crews responded to 244 calls for service.  Of these calls 197 were aid calls, 9 were fire-related and 38 were categorized as “other.”

911 Requests for Services

  • Aid Call: (Algona) On Monday, May 4 at 1:51 p.m., firefighters responded to an adult female with stroke-like symptoms.  The patient was evaluated on scene and transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by private ambulance.
  • Aid Call: (Pacific) On Tuesday, May 5 at 9:46 a.m., firefighters responded to an elderly man who was suffering from hypoglycemia. Firefighters assisted the patient in raising his blood sugar to a normal level and the patient was left at home in the care of his family.
  • Vehicle Accident: (Lea Hill). On Wednesday, May 6 at 2:54 p.m., firefighters responded to a two-car collision. One of the vehicles crashed into a concrete structure after the collision. Two patients were transported with minor injuries.
  • Motor Vehicle Accident: (North Auburn) On Friday, May 8 at 1:12 a.m., firefighters and King County Medic One responded to a two-vehicle, head-on, heavy mechanism accident on Highway 167. Firefighters found two patients, one was fatally injured and one had neck and back injuries. Medic 6 transported one patient to Valley Medical Center. Firefighters remained on scene to assist Washington State Patrol with their investigation.
  • Aid Call: (Pacific) On Friday, May 8 at 10:30 p.m., firefighters and King County Paramedics responded to a male who has sustained a gunshot wound. He was evaluated and then transported to Harborview Medical Center by paramedics.
  • Structure Fire: (Auburn) On Saturday, May 9 at 10:26 a.m., firefighters responded to a barn fire with Mt. View Fire.  VRFA crews were second on the scene and took command of the event. The structure was a small shed-sized barn.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Sunday, May 10 at 5:57 p.m., firefighters assisted an elderly male with a hand laceration. The patient was assessed, wounds bandaged, and he was transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center via private ambulance.

A Message from King County Fire Chiefs:

VRFA posted a video on its Facebook page, joining fellow King County fire departments in applauding the efforts of King County citizens to flatten the curve.  “Thank you for doing your part to slow the spread of COVID-19. You are doing a great job King County! Now is not the time to let up. Let’s finish strong!#TogetherWeCan”
