The City of Auburn has announced it is getting a new mascot! The mascot will be unveiled this summer as the finale of the 2021 Auburn Days Parade.
“The response to Archie and Chance has been so wonderful, we thought the city deserved its own mascot,” said Mayor Nancy Backus.
To select the official mascot of Auburn the city is asking residents to vote for their favorite animal.
To determine the choices for residents to vote on City Council created a special selection ad hoc committee. “The committee has worked for almost two years. It was a difficult task but we narrowed down the selection,” said Deputy Mayor Claude DaCorsi.
Each resident who votes will also be entered into a drawing to name the mascot and ride on the mascot float in the parade.

Boy won’t those people who didn’t actually read the article before commenting feel silly…
This is an April Fools’ Day post created and published for entertainment purposes. The Auburn Examiner has no knowledge of the planning or consideration of a mascot for the City of Auburn. Quotes included in this article are fabricated for entertainment purposes. The City of Auburn did not participate and has no prior knowledge of this joke.
Well, if the vote were real and not an April Fool’s joke, I would have voted for ‘Crow With Fries,’ the metal monstrosity down near the Auburn library that the city paid $50,000 to erect. 🙂 My vote would go to the crow, since we have so many of them in Auburn anyway…might as well become the official mascot.
