U.S. Flags to Fly Half-Staff to Honor Victims of Robb Elementary School Shooting

President Biden ordered all U.S. flags to half-staff, Tuesday, as a mark of respect for the victims for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on May 24 by a gunman at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX. Flags are to fly at half-staff from May 24, 2022, until sunset May 28, 2022.

A reported 21 people, 19 children and two adults, were killed Tuesday in a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas—a small town an hour and a half west of San Antonio. An additional 17 people were injured. An additional 17 people were injured.  All victims have been identified as of Wednesday.

Prior to driving to Robb Elementary to carry out the attack, the gunman shot his grandmother in the face Gov. Abbott said. The grandmother, who remains in the hospital, called 911 after being shot.

Using his grandmother’s vehicle, the gunman traveled to Robb Elementary School, crashing nearby.  He encountered a school resource officer, though no gunfire was exchanged, and entered through one of the school’s back doors. The gunman was killed by a law enforcement agent.

All victims have been identified as of Wednesday.

The massacre the deadliest school shooting in Texas’ history and deadliest shooting at a K-12 school in the United States since 2012, when 26 children and adults were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

*As a reminder, when the U.S. flag is flown at half-staff or half-mast, it should first be raised to the top for an instant, then immediately lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. Prior to lowering the flag, it should be raised once more to the peak, then lowered.

The Auburn Examiner does not name mass shooters unless there is an immediate threat to public safety.
