The King County Council on Tuesday unanimously approved the appointments of three District 7 residents to King County Committees and Boards. Leanne Guier was reappointed to the Priority Hire Advisory Committee, Ginger Kwan was appointed to the Access Paratransit Advisory Board and Maryjane Van Cleave was appointed to the Veterans and Seniors Human Services Levy (VSHSL) Advisory Board’s Vulnerable Populations Committee.

“I am pleased that we have three such capable individuals who have graciously stepped forward to help serve their communities,” said Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, who represents the district. “Leanne, Ginger and Maryjane bring a wealth of diversity and experience to their positions and I know King County will benefit from their service.”

Leanne Guier, who resides in, and serves as the mayor of Pacific, was first appointed to the committee in 2019 and has been reappointed to the King County Priority Hire Advisory Committee for a three-year term expiring on September 30, 2022. The committee, which consists of 8 to 12 members, was established to operate in an advisory role to the county for the implementation of the priority hire legislation.

Ginger Kwan, who resides in the city of Auburn, was appointed to the Access Paratransit Advisory Committee for a one-year term expiring on December 31, 2021. In addition to serving on the Board, Ginger works as the Executive Director of Open Doors for Multicultural Families in Kent and is a parent of a son who uses Access Transit. The Access Paratransit Advisory Committee advises Metro, the King County Executive and the Council on transit issues and policy related to matters of equal access to public transportation for persons with disabilities.

Maryjane Van Cleave, who resides in the city of Auburn, was appointed to the VSHSL Advisory Board’s Vulnerable Populations Committee as the Sound Cities Representative for a partial term to expire on May 31, 2022. Maryjane currently serves as the Recreation and Neighborhoods Director for the city of Renton, where she is responsible for the respite, active recreation and community engagement experiences of the residents of Renton. The Vulnerable Populations Committee oversees the 1/3 of VSHSL funding for vulnerable populations and advises the County on matters and policies affecting vulnerable populations.
