With November coming to an end and the December celebrations QUICKLY approaching, I wanted to bring your attention to the fastest growing trend in King County.   It’s drawing the fiercest of competition and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.  Yes, we are talking about U-cut trees farms.

To any logical person who buys a tree for the holidays, the first or second weekend of December just makes perfect sense.  I am here to tell you that this is a rookie mistake.  If you did that (at least at the place I go), leave the saw at home because you will only need scissors to chop down the lonely Charlie Brown Christmas trees that are left behind from hoards of people who came before you.   I learned very quickly that in the Seattle region, U-cut tree farms are like black Friday.   You need to show up a day or two after Thanksgiving in order to get that perfect, tall, full tree.

We showed up the Saturday after Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time, even though it was PACKED.  We couldn’t find the tall full Noble Fir I was looking for, but we got a pretty darn good alternative.

Many tree farms are closing early this holiday season due to supply limits.  Noble Firs are going quick and many farms no longer have any available. Check out the National Christmas Tree Association’s tree variety list for a description of possible alternatives, found here. If you have your heart set on a u-cut noble and don’t have your tree already, get out there quick.  Happy hunting and may the U-Cut Odds be ever in your favor!
