On Tuesday, March 27th, over 100 people gathered at Bogey’s Public House to put their trivia knowledge to use for charity. This was the fourth annual See-Ya Later team trivia event in Washington, with questions themed to the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. The night featured a dessert dash with a delicious selection of mouthwatering treats. Attendees were also able to bid on donated items, such as Seahawks memorabilia and items from local businesses, in a silent auction.
Hosted by Greg Dobbs, 11 teams competed to win not only bragging rights but Mariners tickets against the Boston Red Sox. Celebrating their victory in June at Safeco Field will be team Painting with a Twist. Knowing it was all for a worthy cause, team The McFlys had no hard feelings coming in the last place. They also got a stack of Hostess treats.
This event raised money for the Scott Banke Memorial Scholarship. This year See-Ya Later can offer five $1500 scholarships to local Auburn graduating seniors who exemplify “kindness and compassion for others,” as well as “performs well academically and has clear plans for continuing education.” Qualifying students must also exhibit leadership skills while demonstrating “commitment to community service.” Students interested in applying can read more here. The application deadline is April 20th.
The fundraising goal for the night was $8,000. As of Thursday morning, the foundation was only $51 shy of their goal at $7449. The dessert dash raised $1,763 alone. These funds will be added to the donations raised from last week’s golfing challenge. 24 people donated a total of $696 in honor of Scott Banke’s 29th birthday.
The next See-Ya Later event is their annual golf tournament, held at the Auburn Golf Course on July 28th. More information for participation as a golfer or sponsor can be found here. The annual See-Ya Later Charity Auction is scheduled for October 6th at Emerald Downs.
