Support for Affordable Housing in Auburn in King County Budget

Councilmember Pete von Reichbaur logoThe King County Council on Tuesday unanimously approved King County’s 2023-2024 budget.  As part of this budget, the Auburn Manor, an affordable housing complex in Auburn, will receive $675,000 in funding to make much needed repairs.

“I am pleased that as part of this budget, we were able to secure funding to support affordable housing in our region,” said Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, who represents Auburn on the King County Council. “The families served by Auburn Manor are some of the most vulnerable in our community and I am hopeful this funding will help preserve their access to stable housing.”

“I’m so excited, this is great news for our friends at Auburn Manor,” said Auburn Mayor Nancy Backus. “The City of Auburn has been advocating for many years in support of rehabilitating existing affordable housing. It’s an extremely effective way to ensure that the affordable housing inventory will remain available to those who need it. Thank you to King County Council for supporting this request!”

Auburn Manor

Owned by the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI), Auburn Manor consists of 25 family-sized units including 19-two -bedroom units and 6 townhouse-style three-bedroom units. Families pay 30% of their income for rent.  There are 53 people living in the property, of whom 22 are children and eight are people living with disabilities.
