Thank you for all you are doing to help keep our community safe and your student engaged in learning. This pandemic is a challenge for all of us and we will get through it together.

Next week is the Auburn School District’s spring break. School staff will be taking the week off to connect with their own families and take a deep breath. Students should not expect communication with teachers April 6-10.

Even though it is spring break, the ASD will continue to serve meals throughout the community next week. We have had more than 200 staff members volunteer to work during spring break to continue to provide nutritious meals to children throughout the ASD. We will communicate any site and time changes on Friday.

As you may know, some states have determined students will not physically return to school this school year. We are waiting for an update from Governor Inslee regarding our status and do not know when the decision will be made. Should the school closure be extended, the continuous learning opportunities for students will evolve and we will provide additional communication. We know this would be a difficult reality for students, staff and families and I assure you we will do everything we can to maintain the relationships we value in our school community.

We are almost midway through the scheduled school closure and we are interested in knowing how our families are doing. If you could take a minute and complete this survey, I would appreciate it. We are continuing to refine how we are supporting families and students and value your feedback.

Thank you for your continued support.

The district also reminded parents to confirm their cellphone numbers to receive text message updates. “We want to text you! If your cell phone number is entered in Skyward for your student, you may opt-in for text messages by texting YES or Y to 67587. Receive text messages for important information from the district.”

The above is a letter sent out by the Auburn School District.  The Auburn Examiner has not independently verified its contents.
