It’s time to root, root, root for the home team! This family-friendly and interactive exhibit has made it all the way from the Smithsonian to Auburn’s White River Valley Museum. Hometown Teams has something for every fan, no matter your favorite sport. Climb on bleachers and pose with the peanut man, peak through a stereoscope to view America’s great stadiums, and sit back and listen to stories of glory and defeat. Alongside national stories are those that reflect on a rich and diverse history of sports in the area like: the ferocious football rivalry between Auburn High School and Kent-Meridian High School, the little known stories of historic Japanese sports teams, and Auburn’s amazing specialized recreation program.

YOU ARE INVITED! Thursday May 2nd from 6 – 8pm we are hosting a secret sneak peek of the exhibit before it opens. Family friendly and admission is FREE!

Can’t make it to the secret preview? Come out for opening day on May 4th for a chance to hear the exhibit’s state scholar Eric Davis give a fascinating talk on what sports teach or kids. This FREE lecture starts at 2pm and seating is first come, first served.

White River Valley Museum Information

About the Museum & Farm: The White River Valley Museum provides an exciting and educational experience for visitors with award-winning exhibits and programs on regional cultures, arts, and history. The Museum’s exhibits include a real settler cabin, a Muckleshoot canoe, and a caboose guests can walk through. Just a ten-minute drive from the Museum is the Mary Olson Farm, a completely restored 1887 family subsistence farm that includes a 100-year-old orchard, a historic barn, livestock and a farmhouse for guests to tour. The Farm is open for school field trips and special events as well as public weekend hours during summer months.

6 – 8 p.m. first Thursdays, $2 for children & seniors, $5 for adults. Children 2 years of age or younger are free. Museum members are always admitted for free. First Thursdays and third Sundays are free for everyone!
