Road Rage Incident Cause of Collision, Auburn Way S Closure

Auburn Way S near Les Gove park was temporarily closed Thursday afternoon due to a motor vehicle accident.  Traffic was detoured through Les Gove Park and back onto Auburn Way S via 12th ST ST.  The collision was a result of a female driver making a u-turn and colliding with a northbound vehicle.

According to Auburn Police Department Public Information Officer Commander Steve Stocker, the incident began as a road rage incident.  “A male driver was following a female driver. On AWS about the 1000 block, she decided to do a U-Turn and did so in front of a vehicle coming North. That vehicle collided with her and then hit a pole that needed to be replaced. That is what caused the shutdown.”

Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to the scene shortly after 3:00pm. “Injuries were minor and the occupants of the vehicle that hit the pole were transported to Valley Hospital,” said Stocker.

As a power pole was damaged, PSE also was on scene to assess and address the damage.

Stocker confirmed that “the male driver is a suspect and could face charges. Officers are still investigating to try and find the male driver.”

No further information is available at this time regarding the suspect.  We will update when we receive more details.
