In 2019, House Democrats passed several bills to bring down the cost of health care and prescription drugs, including the Lower Drug Costs Now Act, which will allow Medicare to negotiate prices of the most expensive drugs it covers. The House also passed Rep. Schrier’s bill, the Medicare Vision Act, which will require Medicare Part B to cover routine vision exams and eyeglasses prescriptions. Lastly, Rep. Schrier’s bill, the Protecting Access to Biosimilars Act, was signed into law as part of the end of year spending package. This legislation will make it easier for less expensive biologic drugs, like insulin, to get to market. All of these bills and issues will be discussed at the Town Hall.
