National Night Out (NNO) is a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). On the first Tuesday of August, residents in neighborhoods throughout the city of Auburn and across the nation are asked to turn on their outside lights, lock their doors, and spend the evening outside with their neighbors. All neighborhoods are encouraged to be a part of AUBURN’S NIGHT OUT team by registering their neighborhood event online at auburnwa.gov/nno.

Where does National Night Out happen?

National Night Out events are hosted throughout the City of Auburn in neighborhoods, apartment complexes, and mobile home communities. Anyone can be a coordinator and host a block party for their neighbors as long as they are within Auburn City limits. Why participate in National Night Out?: National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. The benefits your community will derive from National Night Out will most certainly extend well beyond the one night. In addition to connecting with your neighbors, you can connect with Auburn City staff, including Auburn Police Department staff, by requesting their presence upon registration of your event.
