If you are having a DIY Fourth of July, please do so using safety guidelines from local and state first responders. While the men and women of Valley Regional Fire Authority and King County Medic One are wonderful, please don’t do anything that requires you to meet them tonight.

If you do have the unfortunate need to call 9-1-1 tonight please keep in mind that this is one of, if not the, busiest nights of the year for our first, First Responders at Valley Com 911.

Things to remember when Calling 9-1-1

  • When calling it is important, especially tonight, to provide information quickly: the reason (emergency) for your call and your location. Answer the call taker’s questions quickly and succinctly.
  • While you are speaking with the call taker, the information you are providing is being sent to the dispatchers, who are giving it to the Fire/Medic/Police units being dispatched. You being on the phone is not delaying their response.
  • In the Valley Communications Com Center there are 26 stations for call receivers to answer all 911 calls and non-emergency calls for 16 cities.
  • If no one’s life or property are in danger, expect to be put on hold. This hold may be for an extended period of time.
  • Please do not hang up and call back if you are put on hold, unless there is a person’s life or property in danger.
  • Please do not yell at the individual you speak to. Call Receivers know how frustrated citizens are about fireworks. They sympathize with everyone who is being negatively effected and who is afraid their property may be damaged.
It may not feel like it, but Auburn Police are doing emphasis patrols. Keep in mind, officers are also responding to emergency calls as well. Often times a fire or medical response call also requires a police response.
So again, please reduce your chances of meeting the first responders of Auburn by avoidong unnecessary risks. That includes
