Officers from the Auburn Police Department were in a standoff with an armed man this morning near downtown Auburn. Six units, including a Detective, were dispatched at 9:55am and arrived on scene at 9:58am.
APD Public Information Officer Commander Steve Stocker explained the incident originated when a “female reported her boyfriend choked her and pointed a gun at her.”
“Officers believed [the boyfriend] was inside and did PA announcements for about 30 minutes,” said Stocker. The boyfriend voluntarily exited the residence just before 11:30am and was taken into custody.
The female was out of the house when units arrived. “I do not know [the] status of [the] victim. She was checked out by fire and was not very cooperative with us,” said Stocker.
Stocker confirmed the boyfriend “has some history with [APD], but not a lot. He appears to be a suspect in another incident from not too long ago for domestic assault.” No details are available on that incident.
