One Dead, One Injured in Overnight Auburn Shooting

Police are investigating multiple shooting incidents that happened overnight.  One female was fatally shot and two individuals were injured.

The first shooting occurred just after 8:20 pm Tuesday, September 22, in the 100 Block of N St SW. An individual was shot in association with an attempted residential robbery.  The status of the individual was not available at the time of publication.

The second shooting happened around 8:45 pm in the 1000 Block of 17th St SE, near the Auburn Goodwill. According to police, no one was injured in association with this shooting.

Police responded to the reports of gunshots at the Days Inn (1521 D St NE, Auburn) just before 2:50 am. Medics were dispatched shortly after to the 7-11 on the corner of 22nd St NE and Auburn Way N *2202 Auburn Way N) for two injured females.

According to Auburn Police Commander Mike Hirman, two to four cars were firing at each other in what police are describing as a “rolling dispute not related to road rage.”  He explained the incident began at the Days Inn and the victims traveled north on E St NE and ended at the 7-11.

One of the two females died at the scene from her injuries. The other was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, police state “it is believed that neither victim fired any shots during this incident.”

Police have found several casings in the nearby vicinity of the Days Inn. There are no other known victims, and no vehicles or buildings were damaged.

At this time investigators are uncertain if the three shootings are connected.

This is a developing story.

    Yeah. That Seven Eleven is a couple of blocks from my house. I was up early in my home office upstairs and heard several shots.

    The first thing I wondered was…what will I read in the Examiner about this…tomorrow. Because I know I will.

    Two blocks down the way, at the old Sports Page bar, was where they had what I called later Shootout at the OK Corral. Jealousy over a woman spilled out into the parking lot after closing time.     Now you know why after more than 40 years of living in the Not-So-Great-Anymore Northwest, we’re moving to a small town near Oceanside, California next summer….
