Beginning Monday, July 26, Waste Management crews will swap all existing containers with new containers. The new containers also bring an adjustment to the color assignments of the containers.

Waste Management Serving all of Auburn

In late 2020 the Auburn City Council approved Waste Management to provide all solid waste customers within the City of Auburn with garbage, recycling, and yard+food services. This change will go into effect on October 1, 2021.

Current Republic Services customers can expect a separate notification regarding service changes in August.

Waste Management requires a new City of Auburn customer service number due to the new contract with the city.  The new containers will include the new phone number.

The Swap

Waste Management requests customers (residential, multifamily, and business) to set out all existing containers each week on their normal pick-up day. This will allow crews to swap out customers’ current containers to the updated containers.

Residential customers: July 26 – September 30
Multifamily & Business customers: June 1 – September 30

The crews replacing containers are different than those doing regular service. As containers will be swapped only after they are emptied, customers are asked to please leave their containers on the curb until at least 6:00 p.m. on their service day.

Clarification: Your containers may not all be swapped on the same day. Please put out all of your containers every week until the container is swapped (then only put it out when necessary). If your containers are taken do not fear, new ones are coming. The deliveries may come slightly later in the day beyond 6:00 p.m., but they do arrive!

It will be easy to know when your yard/food waste and garbage containers have been swapped, at they are swapping colors. Garbage will now be a gray container and yard/food waste green.  Recycling remains the blue container.
