National Day of Prayer Event Unites Auburn Leaders

The first Thursday in May is National Day of Prayer. It is a day that invites those of all faiths to join together in unified public prayer. Faith and community leaders of Auburn are joining Thursday, May 6, for a prayer service focusing on unity.

National Day of Prayer in Auburn 

“We are not focusing on labels, titles, politics, or positions but truly believe we are better together when we come and seek God for wellness, peace, and hope for our community,” states the event description.

Auburn’s National Prayer Day recognition will include an afternoon and evening prayer service on Thursday, May 6. The prayer services are scheduled for 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and are expected to be one hour. Both events will be hosted at City Hall (25 W Main St, Auburn).

The two services will include “guest speakers, musical artists, a unity photo booth, unity candles, and other special moments and elements of prayer,” states the event description.

This event is welcome to all individuals, of all faiths, no matter where you may be on your faith journey.

Thursday’s event will include prayers for unity, as well as Auburn Needs & Community,  Racial Reconciliation, Most Vulnerable, Schools, Local Businesses, First Responders, and Our Nation, State, and City Government.

Per the event: “this event will be outside and COVID-19 protocol for outdoor gatherings will be in place. Please wear a mask and social distance. Remember that every person is different and you should only choose what is a healthy and safe choice for you as you participate.”
