How long have you been in the Miss Auburn, Miss Auburn’s Outstanding Teen Program?
This is my 3rd year in the Miss Auburn’s Outstanding Teen Program.

Why did you choose to compete?
I had absolutely no clue what the program was even about when I first heard about it. I was at youth cheer practice one afternoon and one of the younger girls ran up to me and told me that I HAD to run for Miss Auburn’s OT and that she HAD to be my little sister. I decided that it sounded fun and that it didn’t hurt to try. I fell in love with the program and I’m still here 3 years later!

What are you most excited about in the competition?
I am most excited this year to meet so many new people and to get to show my personality to the judges through the interview portion of the competition.

What are you most nervous about in the competition?
I am most nervous about ripping the entire bottom of my dress 30 seconds before walking onto the stage. (Which happened last year) Thank goodness for Miss Joyce who came to save the day with Safety Pins!

What is your talent, and why did you choose it?
This year my talent is a Jazz dance to Friend Like Me from the movie Aladdin. I chose this because I love to dance and I feel like I can just be my bubbly self and have a good time with it.

What is your platform?
Defeat DIPG; raising DIPG awareness

DIPG is an aggressive, as-yet-incurable tumor of the pons portion of the brain and it currently has a <1%, 5-year survival rate.

Why is your platform important to you?
DIPG has affected way too many people that are close to my heart. They say it is very rare yet in just my community alone we have had 3 people that I have known personally pass away in the past 8 years and there are many other families I have followed along with that have lost their children this past year. We must raise awareness about DIPG in order to raise funds to help find a cure for this incurable disease.

What does representing Auburn as Miss Auburn/Miss Auburn’s Outstanding Teen mean to you?Representing as Miss Auburn’s Outstanding Teen would be a dream come true. Becoming MAOT 2020 would mean getting to serve with some pretty amazing people in the community. It would mean getting to spread the word about DIPG and meeting new people who love Auburn as much as I do.
