Rural residents of King County could see significantly better snow and ice treatment on local roads this winter, as the King County Council moves closer to adding up to 70 miles of roads to its service area.
Spurred by last February’s back-to-back deluges of snow, Councilmember Reagan Dunn asked for a plan to add mileage and help keep more miles of county roads passable during winter storms. A report presented last week outlined possible ways to increase service, and full council is set to consider that report tomorrow.
If the report is accepted by council, it would trigger the release of $50,000 in funding for the King County Roads division and allow the plan to move forward.
