Auburn Symphony concludes its first season with new Music Director Wesley Schulz by throwing a party!auburn symphony orchestra

The orchestral party begins with Anna Clyne’s raucous, Masquerade! Then, South African pianist Johan Botes performs Tchaikovsky’s towering Piano Concerto No. 1, among the best known of all piano concertos.

The second half of the program features the Auburn Symphony premiere of Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, a favorite of Maestro Schulz. The work is in three movements with each movement comprising a dance. The first is bold, and highly expressive, especially when a saxophone enters with an intoxicating melody. The second movement waltz contains quirks and twists while the last movement rushes toward an ending that leaves the listener breathless.

Concert attendees will get a glimpse of the soon-to-be-announced 2019-20 Season.

Before the concert, catch a free music talk with Schulz and KING FM’s Dave Beck at 1:30 p.m.

Reserved seats can be purchased in advance or the day of the concert. Parking is free. This concert is sponsored in part by the City of Auburn.
