How You Can Support Local During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Practicing social distancing is the best way to flatten the curve and help to prevent the spread of COVID-19.  This unfortunately has caused a severe hit to many small businesses in Auburn.  Here are some ways you can support local Auburn businesses:
Order Take Out or Delivery:
Restaurants and bars are closed for dine in.  However, you can still order food for take out and delivery.  Many Auburn restaurants are available on delivery services like Door Dash, GrubHub and Postmates.  Door Dash also offers a no-contact delivery option.
Confirmed Restaurants still open for take out and delivery (check Facebook/website for updated hours and availability):
Sweet Rice
Oddfellas
Sunbreak Cafe
Geaux Brewing
Gor Gai Thai
Garcia’s Family Mexican
Half Lion Brewing Co (Sumner)
Athen’s Pizza and Pasta
Rio Blanco
Sushido
Zola’s Cafe
Gosanko’s Chocolates
PNW Coffee
Trotters
Urban Chops
Star Donut
Le Donut
Legendary Doughnuts
Rainbow Cafe
CRFT
(This is not a complete list. If you know of others, PLEASE list them in the comments.)
Retail and Services:
A Little Knitty – store is closed for in person shopping, but has pick up and online options available.  Will have Facebook live shopping on Friday.  Mystery boxes and learn to knit kits available.
Classic Farmhouse – limited hours.  Shop clothing online, place shop online orders via phone and pick up in store, or have it shipped.
Green Valley Meats & Proper British Bacon – many stores are out of fresh meat.  Now is the best time to give your neighborhood butcher a try!
Buds & Blooms – send flowers to a friend or family to brighten their day. Fresh flowers are always amazing!
Bigfoot Quilts – Limited hours, call in fabric orders for in person pick up.
Corestar Pilates – check out their instagram, they’re posting in home exercises.
Now is a great time to get your taxes done.  We recommend Lori at Ace Accounting.  The great news is you can practice social distancing and do everything via email!
Cricket Wireless located in North Auburn has several specials going on right now, including free Android devices to people that switch carriers.
Did you have a hair, nail, other cosmetology or even tattoo appointment canceled due to the required business closures?  Why not prepay for your next appointment?  Even if you pay half of what your appoint costs, that will be extremely helpful to these individuals who rely on this income to survive.
Many of these businesses also offer gift cards.  Buying a gift card now can help these businesses sustain.  You can often purchase gift cards online or over the phone.
These are just a few businesses and examples of how to support local small businesses during this time.  While local, State and Federal Governments have passed legislation that will provide some relief for businesses, many of these options are loans.  These loans often will put added stress on business owners.  If we as a community can do our part to support these businesses during this time, their rebound will not be as hard or long.
Remember to continue practicing social distancing, wash your hands and if you are sick stay home.
