Roughly 350 healthcare workers at MultiCare Auburn have been working without a contract since September 2018.  Their union, SEIU Healthcare 1199NW has been in negotiations since July 2018.  It’s because of the inability to come to an equitable agreement that healthcare workers held an informational picket and community rally on Thursday, February 21st.  The day just happened to be before their next bargaining meeting.

“We showed our power to MultiCare by marching outside [the] ER, and calling to management to respect the work we do,” said MultiCare Auburn bargaining team member and ER Tech Raymond Fugate. “I was proud seeing so many of you out there on the line. Let’s continue.”

A final contract agreement could not be agreed to in Friday’s bargaining session.  “Some progress was made.  It was clear that our picket has moved management,” said Caroline Bellinger, MultiCare Auburn bargaining team member, and LPN.  “We were disappointed that management is not willing to invest what they need at Auburn. Our bargaining team will make decisions on our next step, let’s stay united and continue building our strength.”

The next bargaining sessions are scheduled for April 3rd and 26th.
