Today, the second Sunday in May, we celebrate Mother’s Day.

Being a mom or mother-figure is an amazing, but amazingly tough, job. Truly mothers deserve more than just one day of recognition for all they do. Prior to the early 1900s there wasn’t even that one day.

Mother’s Day is not a celebration for all. Whether a reminder of the difficult relationship they have with their mother, the loss of their mother or child, or of the children that never were, this day can be very difficult for some. Be sure to take care of yourself today if this day is hard for you.

How to Celebrate

Looking for a Mother’s Day activity? Try checking out one of Auburn’s many parks or restaurants. You could also spoil your mom with a spa treatment, or go shopping at the Outlet Collection. Having a low-key Mother’s Day with a quiet get together at home will be exactly what some mom’s need. The only get together other mom’s will want is when everyone else gets together and leaves so she can finally have some peace and quiet.

Whatever you choose to do, we hope all mothers and mother figures have a happy holiday!
