The Metropolitan King County Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to appoint Fa’amomoi P. Masaniai, Jr. to Position 4 of the King County District Court Southwest Division. Fa’amomoi, a Federal Way resident, was appointed after a vigorous vetting and interview process.
“I am pleased to be able to support Fa’amomoi’s appointment to the District Court,” said Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, who represents the Federal Way area on the King County Council. “He has a history of persevering, even when the odds were against him. From walking onto the WSU football team to earning his law degree through the Rule 6 program, Fa’amomoi has demonstrated a strong work ethic and an ability to take paths less traveled, which will serve our District Court system well.”
The King County District Court is the largest court of limited jurisdiction in the state of Washington. Matters coming before it include traffic infractions, criminal traffic citations, misdemeanors, and gross misdemeanors, civil cases with an amount in controversy less than $100,000, and small claims suits.
Divided into three geographic divisions, the King County South Division includes locations in Auburn, Burien, the Maleng Regional Justice Center (MRJC) in Kent, and Vashon Island.
