SUMMARY:Auburn’s 60th annual Veterans Parade to honor service on Saturday\, Nov. 8
DESCRIPTION:The City of Auburn will honor those who served in the armed forces with its 60th annual Veterans Parade and Observance on Saturday\, Nov. 8\, beginning at 11 a.m. on Main Street in downtown Auburn. \nAccording to the City of Auburn\, the parade is one of the largest of its kind west of the Mississippi River and will begin with a flyover by a UH-1H “Huey” helicopter known as Guardian2\, supported by the King County Sheriff’s Office. \nSpectators can expect to see antique military vehicles\, honor guards\, ROTC units\, military and veteran marching groups\, drill teams\, community and scouting organizations\, motorcycle clubs\, antique car clubs and more than 15 marching bands. \nEvent organizers encourage attendees to arrive early\, bring folding chairs and flags\, and prepare for an emotional and patriotic morning. Food vendors will be located along South Division Street\, and local media personalities Steve Soliz and Natalie Fahmy of KOMO 4 will emcee from the corner of Main and Division. Mark Christopher from the Seattle Radio Group will also provide live commentary from Main and B Street NE. \nThe city reminds attendees to avoid parking in local business lots and to be courteous when parking in surrounding neighborhoods. \nAdditional details\, including parade maps\, street closures\, detour routes\, and food and lodging options\, are available on the City of Auburn’s website. \nThe parade route runs west on Main Street from E Street SE to A Street NW: \n \n\n\nADDITIONAL EVENTS:\n\nAmerican Legion Auburn Post #78 Community Breakfast\n7:00 AM – 9:00 AM\nAuburn Senior Activity Center\, 808 Ninth Street SE\nThis component of the Observance is a partnership between the City of Auburn and Auburn American Legion Post #78. The breakfast is $12 per person and includes pancakes\, eggs\, ham and juice or coffee. Pay at the door. Advance reservations are not available or necessary. \nRemembrance Ceremony & Lighting of the Flame\n9:45 AM – 10:15 AM\nVeterans Memorial Park\, 411 E Street NE\nThe flame is lit and guarded through the night at the memorial at Veterans Memorial Park. Wreath placement\, rifle salute\, prayers and taps encompass this ceremony held prior to the parade. \nAuburn VFW Post 1741 Open House\n12:00 PM – 5:00 PM\nAuburn VFW\, 130 W Main Street\nThis VFW Open House is exclusively for Veterans and Active Duty Personnel. Come mix\, meet and mingle with fellow Veterans! Food and refreshments will be served. \nAuburn Veterans Day Marching Band Competition\n1:00 PM – 10:00 PM\nAuburn Memorial Stadium\, 801 4th Street NE\nThe Auburn Veterans Day Band Competition and Field Show returns again in 2025! One of the most prestigious band competitions in the State!
