SUMMARY:City of Auburn will raise Pride Flag on Monday\, June 3
DESCRIPTION:All are invited to take part in the City of Auburn’s Pride Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday\, June 3\, 2024 at 6 p.m. at Auburn City Hall. \nThis event will kick off Pride Month\, a celebration of love\, diversity\, acceptance\, and unashamed self-pride. \nMayor Nancy Backus and her daughter\, Lucky\, raised the LGBTQ+ pride flag at city hall for the first time in 2020. \n“In 2020\, raising the Pride Flag was breaking new ground in Auburn\, but I wish we would have begun the tradition a few years earlier and not just a proclamation\,” Backus told The Auburn Examiner. \nThe LGBTQ pride flag was first created in 1978 by Gilbert Baker at the request of San Fransisco Mayor Harvey Milk. \n“A Rainbow Flag was a conscious choice\, natural and necessary\,” Baker said. “The rainbow came from earliest recorded history as a symbol of hope.” \nAuburn City Hall is located at 25 W Main Street: \n \n\nJoin us June 3 at City Hall Plaza for our Pride Flag Raising Ceremony! Festivities begin at 6 p.m. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🌈 And then the following Sunday\, June 9\, for Pride at the Auburn Farmers Market. pic.twitter.com/a1HbWwrB4r \n— City of Auburn (@auburn_wa) May 23\, 2024

SUMMARY:Juneteenth flag raising will be at Auburn City Hall on Monday\, June 17
DESCRIPTION:The second annual Juneteenth flag raising will be at Auburn City Hall on Monday\, June 17\, 2024\, and all are invited. \nThis free event will start at 6 p.m. \nJuneteenth – also known as Emancipation Day or Freedom Day – holds deep meaning for all Americans. It represents the long-awaited realization of freedom and justice.
