SUMMARY:Auburn’s 61st Veterans Parade returns to downtown Main Street on Saturday\, Nov. 7
DESCRIPTION:Auburn will honor Veterans with its 61st annual Veterans Parade & Observance on Saturday\, Nov. 7\, bringing marching bands\, military vehicles\, veterans groups and community organizations to downtown Main Street. \nThe parade begins at 11 a.m. and travels west on Main Street from E Street SE to A Street NW\, according to the city of Auburn. \nClick image to download PDF of map.\nThis annual event is one of the largest Veterans parades west of the Mississippi River. \nSpectators can expect military marching units\, ROTC units\, color and honor guards\, scouting groups\, motorcycle clubs and antique car clubs. Antique military vehicles also will be part of the procession. \nThe city’s announcement lists a possible opening flyover involving the 446th Airlift Wing from McChord Air Force Base and the King County Sheriff’s Office. The flyover is not guaranteed. \nFor those lining the route\, the city recommends arriving early and bringing a folding chair and a flag. \nKOMO News will livestream the parade\, according to the city. The breakfast is $12/person and includes pancakes\, eggs\, ham\, juice or coffee. \nAmerican Legion Breakfast Flyer (PDF) \n\nRemembrance Ceremony and Lighting of the Flame\n9:45 – 10:15 a.m.\nVeterans Memorial Park\, 411 E Street NE \nThe flame is lit and guarded through the night at the memorial at Veterans Memorial Park. Wreath placement\, rifle salute\, prayers and taps encompass this ceremony held prior to the parade. \n\nAuburn VFW Post 1741 Open House\n12:00 – 5:00 p.m.\nAuburn VFW\, 130 W Main Street \nThis VFW Open House is exclusively for Veterans and Active-Duty Personnel. Come mix\, meet and mingle with fellow Veterans!
