We did it folks, we made it to the end of 2020 – well, almost.  To celebrate the AE Team, and special guest Chris Stearns, have put together some pretty swank playlists for ya. Since we missed November (I was too busy out searching for the monolith) we’ve got a few bonus playlists this month.

Each of us has different tastes, and our moods change from month to month, so there’s sure to be something for everyone in the mix. Give the playlists a listen and let us know what you think!

Don’t forget to check out our other playlists, and follow us on Spotify – you may just catch a playlist before it’s released!

Elizabeth’s December 2020 Playlist:

I cheated on this one.  I thought the “Your Top Songs 2020” was a pretty accurate representation of how my year went, told through music. There are 100 songs on the list, here are the top 10 songs:

Top 15 Albums of 2020:

Great music grips us with emotion and lets us to exist purely in the moment. 2020 was endless, tragic, scary, and unpredictable as any year in the last half century. But 2020 ends with hope, with a chance to redirect ourselves, individually and as a nation. The best music of 2020 helped us escape, to be sure, but it didn’t let us wander too far. No, these albums made us aware of our surroundings – the brutal and the chaotic – but they also challenged us to see our fellow human beings as real people deserving of our compassion and love. It is no coincidence that the artists who wrote these albums are all veteran songwriters. Their perspectives on 2020 and on life are reflected in music that is spiritual, defiant, energized, and mature. While 2020 may have been turbulent, the music that it bore was some of the strongest in decades. There really is no way to compile a best-of list that claims only 15 albums. My list could easily reach fifty worthy albums this year. And that’s a good sign for what is yet to come as we turn a new page.

Top 15 Songs of 2020

Musically, the year 2020 was as good as it gets. As with my Best Albums of 2020, it was impossible to limit my Best Songs of 2020 to just 10 or even 15.  There are so many more deserving songs outside of these 16. But these songs really spoke to me. Some are serene and some are jarring.  That, in retrospect, simple reflects what we needed in 2020. Sometimes the world outside made escape essential to survival.  At other points, the times and the cry for justice and change, meant that we had to get up and fight. And we needed a soundtrack for that too. I am so grateful to all of the artists making music today and making our world a far, far better place. In no particular order, here are my favorite songs of 2020

(Not sure how WAP didn’t make it on the list, but okay)
