All Washington Sam’s Club are closing. Select items will be a part of a 50% off sale starting tomorrow. The Auburn store will open Friday January 12th at 10am. The Auburn store is expected to close January 26th.
January 8, 2018 – Auburn School Board recognize Terri Herren and Katie Estep for excellence
The Auburn School Board recognized Terri Herren and Katie Estep for their excellence as outstanding staff member and outstanding student of the month. Herren has been the Principal of Auburn Mountainview High since 2007. Estep is an 8th grader at Cascade Middle School.
January 2, 2018 – Councilmember Baggett is selected as new Deputy Mayor
In a vote of 4 to 3, the Auburn City Council selected Councilmember Bob Baggett as Deputy Mayor. CM Baggett was nominated by Councilmember Claude DaCorsi. Councilmember Bill Peloza was automatically nominated for the position as part of the new council procedures vote in in August 2017.

December 14, 2017 – APD Operation ‘Porch Pirate’ successful with arrest of 2 suspects
This morning, detectives observed a man and a woman in a car stop and take a package from the porch of a house in the Lakeland Hills area. Detectives followed the car, which ended up coming back as reported stolen. They arrested the couple, recovered the stolen car, and will be contacting the owner(s) of other property located in the car.
December 13, 2017 – APD release images of suspects from home invasion robbery
On December 7, 2017 two (2) males pictured below forced their way into an occupied home and robbed the residents at gun point. One male was seen wearing a hat and sunglasses (2 pictures) the second male was seen wearing a hat and a mask (1 picture). The Auburn Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in identifying these two (2) males. December 12, 2017 – VRFA called to fire at 300 block of G Street SE
On Tuesday afternoon VRFA and APD responded to a report of heavy smoke coming from a roof in the 300 block of G Street SE. APD breached entry into the home via the front door, exposing gray smoke. VRFA entered the residence and found no one was home. They quickly controlled the fire, and after confirming no hot spots remained cleared the scene. Investigators have determined the cause of the fire was accidental in nature and the estimated damage to the structure is estimated at $20,000 and contents at $10,000. No persons or animals have been reported injured from this incident.
December 5, 2017 – Valley Regional Fire Authority has protection grade improved
The Washington Surveying and Rating Bureau has improved Auburn’s Protection class rating from a Protection class 4 to Protection class 3. The best rating is Protection class 1. This grading is a result of targeted improvements made by VRFA that resulted in a reduction of response times and increase in VRFA’s capabilities. Residential and commercial property owners should inquire to their insurance agents or companies as this improved grading may result in decreased rates.

Wednesday November 29, 2017 – APD Officer involved shooting.
A suspect driving a stolen vehicle crashed after a high speed chase was terminated. The suspect exited the vehicle and threatened several citizens with a firearm. When police arrived on scene the suspect continued to aim the firearm at both citizens and police. The preliminary investigation indicates the Detective fired 2 rounds and struck the suspect. The suspect was taken to Harborview Medical center and has not yet been charged.
