The Auburn Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 2100 Block of 66th St SE shortly before 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.

A second child (12) was able to escape the home uninjured. “The child was able to get in touch with one of the neighbors, who then dialed 911. The child has been safely housed and we are currently in contact with CPS,” said an Auburn Police press release.

Currently this appears to be a murder/suicide, but detectives are still working to confirm this. “There are no outstanding suspects at this time or threat to the public,” said the press release.

Please note: Out of respect for the child involved and victims’ family, the Auburn Examiner will only update if there is an external criminal element involved. With no threat to the public, there is no ethical justification to provide additional information that may contribute to the furtherment of pain or trauma of a victim.
