Auburn Police say the 8th St NE bridge was temporarily closed Sunday evening while police searched for armed suspects connected to a carjacking.

Three suspects armed with firearms carjacked an individual on Stuckriver Dr., near Game Farm Park. After a short pursuit with police the suspects bailed from the vehicle and fled on foot. According to online statements from resident witnesses, the suspects maneuvered over fences and through yards in an effort to evade police.

A containment perimeter was set up by officers in the vicinity of R St NE and 8th St NE, closing the 8th St NE bridge, to search for the suspects. A drone and a K9 unit were utilized in the search for the suspects.

Officers did not locate any of the three suspects, ending the search after approximately an hour.

It is unknown if the driver and three suspects know each other.

According to Auburn Police PIO Kolby Crossley there were no injuries related to the incident.
