The House Floor debated Senate Bill 5687, concerning certain traffic improvements, including authorizing the use of automatic traffic safety cameras in school walk areas. The bill passed the Senate 25-24 on February 9 and passed the House 55-42, which now makes its way to the Governor’s Office for an opportunity to be signed into law.

The Auburn City Council heard from city staff at this week’s study session regarding school zone safety cameras. Resolution No. 5651 is on the agenda for Monday’s city council meeting agenda. Should the city council pass this resolution, the Mayor would be authorized to sign an agreement for automated traffic safety camera equipment and services in school zones.
