AVHS is here to help the public with human and pet services even during this time. The City of Auburn contracts with AVHS to provide the essential services of animal sheltering; reunite lost animals found within the city limits; as well as pet licensing for city residents.

Our AVHS staff provides resources to care for your pet and helps those who need to owner surrender their animals or rehome their pet. AVHS is here to help. Auburn Valley Humane is open to serve the public, and we will connect you with the resources you need. Please contact us at info@auburnvalleyhs.org or by calling (253) 249-7849.

AVHS partners with Seattle Humane, Seattle Animal Shelter, Pasado’s Safe Haven, and Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) to support pet owners during the time when the need is great. Through the generous support of GreaterGood.org and PetSmart Charities, a rescue food bank is benefitting the communities in King County to distribute pet food and supplies to those struggling financially. A mobile food bank distributes food for cats and dogs. It will be a curbside pickup. To learn more about the program visit the King County Pet Assistance Program.

AVHS has other special programs to help individuals who become ill and are unable to care for their pets with our Pets in Crisis program. The Public Veterinary Medical Fund is also a resource that allows for non-routine medical emergencies for pets. Visit our website, www.auburnvalleyhs.org, or our Facebook page.

What would happen to your pets if something happened to you? Having a plan in place may give a pet owner peace of mind, and help to ease the transition for the family and pets during a difficult time. Last year Auburn Valley Humane Society took in more than 20 dogs due to the death or disability of their owner. These dogs needed to find new homes, but shelter staff did not have the opportunity to learn from the pet owner about their specific pet needs.

The AVHS Pets Without Me program provides pet owners peace of mind that their pets are cared for if something happens. The program facilitates the care of the pet and provides a new forever home for pets whose owners enroll. A maximum of four animals per household may be enrolled. There is no enrollment fee for the Pets Without Me program, however, we ask that the pet owner consider leaving Auburn Valley Humane Society a gift in their Will to provide funding for the care of your pets and others like them. For additional information about the Pets Without Me Program, please contact the Special Programs Coordinator at 253-249-7849 or programs@auburnvalleyhs.org.
