Auburn’s Winter 2021 Youth Sports Program Registration Now Open

Press ReleaseWith a modified COVID-19 protocol friendly curriculum in place, there is a way for children to participate in organized team sports to develop and improve physical and cognitive skills as well as learn important life skills. Skyhawks Sports Academy (Skyhawks), the leading provider of youth sports programs for children 4 to 14 years, has opened registrations for its Winter 2021 Programs for Auburn residents.

2021 Winter Sports Schedule

Skyhawks will provide in-person Basketball and Cheerleading camps and clinics at Auburn Community and Event Center, and Flag Football at Game Farm Park, in a low-pressure, friendly, non-competitive learning environment with an emphasis on safety, fun, and skill-based sports experience for children. Skyhawks Basketball will be offered for children ages 5 to 14 years starting Tuesday, January 5, 2021, Skyhawks Cheerleading for children ages 5 to 11 years starting Thursday, January 7, 2021, and Skyhawks Flag Football for ages 5 to 14 years starting Monday, January 4, 2021. “It has been a challenging year with limited opportunities available for families and children looking for organized team sports, across the county,” said Jason Frazer, President of Skyhawks Sports Academy. “Skyhawks is committed to providing safe and engaging organized play opportunities for children across age groups. Our highly-qualified and experienced coaches and staff did an excellent job through the year and we are looking forward to extending the opportunity with our Winter 2021 programs.”

With proven COVID-19 protocols per state and local guidelines and a modified curriculum, Skyhawks coaches experienced in individual and multi-sports and certified in CPR and first aid will conduct each session with age-appropriate activities in a fun, imaginative, and engaging format. Available Programs

Skyhawks Basketball is a four-week, 45-minute-long-sessions program suited for a beginner to intermediate level basketball player, uses a professional curriculum, and focuses on the whole player including passing, dribbling, and rebounding techniques. The program focuses on teaching children the skills they need both on and off the court to be a better athlete.

Skyhawks Cheerleading is a four-week, 45-minute-long-sessions program perfect for the beginning to intermediate cheerleader. The program is designed to teach young athletes all the essential skills to lead the crowd and support the home team. Skyhawks Cheerleading will ensure that each participant will learn cheers, proper hand and body movements as well as jumping techniques. There is no stunting, just a big focus on fun while each cheerleader learns important life skills such as team building and leadership.

Skyhawks Flag Football is a four-week, 45-minutes per week program designed for beginner to intermediate level athletes, who are seeking a complete introduction to Football or for those who simply want to brush up on their skills in preparation for league play. Each session focuses on a ‘skill of the day’ where participants learn skills on both sides of the ball that include components of passing, catching, and de-flagging or defensive positioning, in a fun, positive, and non-competitive environment. Children also get a chance to showcase their skill on the field at the special event, the Skyhawks Sports Bowl, towards the end of the program.
