For the week of March 4th to March 8th, Auburn School District Band programs will be staging an intensive fundraising project to benefit Nexus Youth and Families services. Band President Elizabeth had this to say about the fundraiser.

“One of my main goals as band president was to work on outreach projects that would allow the band program at Auburn Riverside High School to give back to the community in Auburn that supports us so graciously. Additionally, I wanted the cooperation between high school band programs across the district to be more active. In the interest of achieving both goals, I came up with the idea of holding a friendly fundraising competition or “Battle of the Bands” in which all three programs have a week to raise as much money as we can to donate to a resource that aids those in need in our Auburn community.”nexus, auburn

Choosing Nexus Youth and Families as their fundraising target just goes to show how committed the Auburn community is to their youth. By donating to Nexus Youth and families, these Auburn School District bands aren’t just providing support to youth currently in our care, but creating a culture of understanding and fighting stigma should any of them need help in the future. With more and more King County youth experiencing mental illness and homelessness each year, their support could not have come at a better time.

We encourage all our community member to support the work of these Auburn High School students, and applaud the students for undertaking such a charitable project. We are so lucky to share our community with all of you, and we are wishing you all the success in the world!
