Last week’s holiday concert from the Auburn Symphony Orchestra was terrific. It took the audience right into the holiday spirit from the very beginning.
The concert was opened with the Auburn Riverside High School Orchestra and Band on a stage. The students were sitting next to the Auburn Symphony Orchestra musicians. Together they performed a classic holiday favorite, Carol of the Bells. This performance was followed by a Christmas Festival. The students were as good as the professionals!
I really like the program selections. The concert had a little of everything: classical Christmas carols, music from beloved Christmas movies, and even music from the opera. The diverse music made it a fun night for everyone!
One of the exciting portions of the evening was when the orchestra played the pieces from Christmas movies. Each song had the audience guessing what movies they were from. They also played music from the Disney movie “Frozen.” It was such a joy for the kids in the audience.
The concert concluded with the audience’s favorite part of the concert, the Christmas Carol sing-along! This made for a very cheerful conclusion to a wonderful concert, as the audience stood and lifted their voices to sing along with the orchestra.
In addition to the lovely music of the night were very delicious cookies in the lobby during intermission.
It was a delightful night! I have been very busy and stressful these days and I haven’t really felt the Holiday season cheer. However, this concert lifted my spirit up and put me into the joyous mood!
The next performance from the Auburn Symphony will be a part of their Chamber Series. Clara and Johannes will have two performances, the first being Friday January 24, 2020 at Kent Lutheran Church. The second performance of Clara and Johannes will be Sunday January 26th at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Auburn. Buy tickets now!
