In her 20th year leading the performing arts facilities in Auburn, Smith is a staple of Auburn’s arts community.  Before she began her role with the ASD, she was very involved in the arts community, having served on the Auburn Arts Commission for 16 years.  Additionally, Smith performed in several community theater productions on the Performing Arts Center stage, taught piano for 20 years and coordinated volunteer ushers for numerous performances at the PAC.  When the position at the APAC opened, she was a natural fit.

In her current role, Smith manages the Auburn Performing Arts Center (APAC), the Theatre at Mountainview and the Auburn Riverside Theater.

Theater technician Joe Cughan said, “[Smith] effortlessly coordinates hundreds of events every school year. She embodies the school district’s mission of arts in the district and in the community. She does it all with a positive, enthusiastic attitude that is contagious. [Smith] always goes above and beyond and is a role model for future generations.”

By all accounts, Sorenson is an awesome individual, student, and friend.

One of the many reasons the ASD Board selected Sorenson was his incredible diligence and dedication.  He sets daily challenge goals for himself each day and continually excels to higher levels. Though reaching his goals takes extra work sometimes, he persistently works hard at achieving his goals. Sorenson boldly accepts the challenge with a smile.
