On Saturday, April 14, 15 members of the Auburn Rotary Club and their families gathered at NW Harvest’s Kent distribution center for a day of service.  NW Harvest is “is the only nonprofit food bank distributor operating statewide in Washington.”

The Rotarians worked together to package 4,400 pounds of pasta and 3,860 pounds of beans.   The pasta packaged by the volunteers equals 3,385 meals.  The food the Rotarians packaged will be distributed to families in need throughout the state.

According to their website, NW Harvest works “with a network of 375 food banks, meal programs, and high-need schools. Through this network, we provide 2 million meals every month.”

“We require that our partner food banks provide Northwest Harvest food freely to anyone hungry enough to ask,” the website continues, “respecting our clients’ dignity while serving their need.”

Now in its 60th year, the Auburn Rotary club is a service organization that brings together local business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian services to the community.  The club is a non-political and non-sectarian organization open to all. The club is “always looking for new members who are looking to meet great people and place service before self,” shared member Daryl Faber.

The Auburn Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at noon at the Auburn Golf Course.
