Auburn Organizations Ensure the Cupboard is Not Bare

This spring, the coronavirus pandemic led to the biggest unemployment spike in U.S. history. Even before COVID-19, 12% of King County adults experienced food insecurity. According to a King County report, “research has estimated that for every 1 percentage-point increase in the unemployment rate, there is 0.52 percentage-point increase in the food insecurity rate.”

The same King County report shares that “higher food insecurity is experienced by adults between the ages of 25-44, adults in households with children, Hispanic adults, low-income adults, and adults living in South King County.”
