To honor those who have served in the armed forces, Auburn Morning Toastmasters will waive a portion of the fees for joining during November and December for all active-duty military, members of the reserves and veterans.

“As the wife of a veteran and mother of a reservist, I know how much these men and women have given to our country.  This is a very small way we can give back,” said Sheryl Watkins, president of Auburn Morning Toastmasters.  “I also know what they have to offer our club.  Our vice president of education demonstrates week-in and week-out the qualities she gained in the Army: persistence, attention to detail, teamwork, and a drive not just for self-improvement, but also to encourage others to reach their full potential.”

Through self-paced educational programs, Toastmasters shed their fear of public speaking, while gaining organizational and leadership skills that help them progress in their professional and personal lives.  Cost for members is less than that of a latte per week.  During November and December, the club portion of the membership fee – $15 – will be waived for active duty and reserve military, as well as veterans.

Auburn Morning Toastmasters meets at 6:30 Thursday mornings at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce, 420 E. Main Street.  The public is welcome to visit meetings to see what Toastmasters can do for them. Parking is available on the street and behind the building.
