Auburn Mayor’s Day of Concern Food Drive Breaks Record

During the week of September 23rd to the 27th, customers were encouraged to place donations for the Auburn Food Bank out with their Waste Management cans.  Flyers were placed on waste cans the week prior as a reminder of the donation drive.  Mayor Nancy Backus was confident in the generosity of Auburn’s residents, and they did not let her down!

“Including curbside donations picked up by Waste Management last week and the other collection events, residents donated 6,508 pounds of food. This surpasses last year’s donations total of 5,985 pounds,”  shared Waste Management Communications Manager Gary Chittim.

“I am proud, but not surprised that we broke the record on donations received for the Mayor’s Day of Concern,” said Backus. “Our community always rally to help others within our City. Thank you to Waste Management and congratulations to the Auburn Food Bank for another job well done!”
