We know how frustrating it can be to hear about an incident, but not have any follow up. With that in mind, we followed up on recent incidents in an effort to help keep the community informed and aware with our Auburn Crime Catch-up.

Juan Carlos Con Guzman:
Update 10/9/2019 3:00 pm: Two suspects have been apprehended in relation to this case as of Wednesday afternoon. For more information, read this article provided by Q13 Fox.
From Washington’s Most Wanted on Q-13 Fox – “King County Major Crimes Detectives need your help to solve the murder of 16-year-old Juan Carlos Con Guzman. On Tuesday, September 10, 2019, the Mount Rainier High school student’s body was located around 1:00 PM in the Green River near Auburn in unincorporated King County. The cause of death is homicidal violence.
Detectives are asking for anyone who has information on Juan Carlos Con Guzman’s murder please call the King County Sheriff’s Office at 206/296-3311. If you wish to remain anonymous, submit tips to Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at www.P3Tips.com or through the P3Tips App that you can download to your cell phone for free. The Meadows on Lea Hill August 9th Shooting:
Auburn Police Department is still seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the man in this video. This video is related to an investigation of a shooting that occurred on Lea Hill on August 9th. If you have any information or can identify this individual, please call the APD tip line at 253-288-7403 and reference case 19-09462.
Some have questioned the quality of the video and if it was edited. We inquired to APD and were informed the footage is what was provided by the apartment complex. Viewing the footage carefully, a car can be seen in the background prior to the door opening. It appears an edit may have been made to remove an unrelated individual from the video who was leaving the building and going out to their car.
Stolen Vehicle Pursuit, September 23rd:
A firearm was located in the vehicle under the passenger seat. APD Commander Mike Hirman confirmed the firearm was stolen out of Seattle. Tremaine Daigneault, the passenger in the vehicle, is expected to be charged in relation to the stolen firearm.
Both the driver of the stolen vehicle, Linda Jimmy, and Daigneault, were placed on conditional felony release the following day after appearing in King County District Court. Both were scheduled to appear in King County Superior Court at the end of September.
The two police vehicles that were damaged in the pursuit were not totaled. This case number is (19-11248)
September 26th female assaulted in Lowes Parking Lot:
At approximately 2:30am, a female sleeping in her car was assaulted by an unknown male in the Lowes parking lot. The male held a machete to her throat. Police were called, and the male was arrested. Charges have been filed with the King County Prosecutor. This case number is (19-11350).
Hirman clarified that carrying large knives or machetes are permitted within the city. “as long as they are carried in a non-threatening manner or in a manner that ‘shocks and alarms.’”
September 25th Police Search near 37th St NE:
Police including a K-9 unit, were searching for an individual along 37th St SE (near Mt. Baker) at approximately. 11:30pm. This search was due to an order violation. “A K-9 track turned up negative, but the victim gave us his backpack which he left behind. We took it; he called us; we arrested him,” said Hirman.
Moral of the story: if you’re going to break the law, don’t leave something behind. If you do, don’t go pick it up from the cops.
September 20th Arrests at Ellingson St 7-11:
Police arrested one individual for eluding and detained three others. A stolen gun was recovered.
September 5th Pursuit on A Street SE.:
This pursuit was initiated from a traffic infraction/misdemeanor crime. It was subsequently terminated by the officer.
August 29th Shooting, morning:
A gunshot was called in. A casing was found. An Air Conditioning Unit was damaged. No victims were hit. No suspect arrested. Case number is (19-10299).
August 29th shooting, night:
A shooting was reported at the ARCO station off Auburn Way N and 37th. Sources indicate the two parties involved were known to each other. “In this case, the transient was identified but there has not been an arrest. The case remains active,” said Hirman.
August 26th Shooting:
A shooting occurred at the 2600 block of D Street SE. A round was fired and a casing was found. No victims, no suspect arrested. The case number in (19-10183)
August 21st Valley SWAT on I St NE:
According to Hirman, “information developed by a detective lead to probable cause, and then the warrant. The suspect was arrested for multiple felonies involving auto theft, Burglary first and second degree, and Unlawful Possession of a weapon.”
Hector Galeano:
Friends last saw Hector Galeano (27) in the early hours of Monday, December 3, 2018. After no contact or communication on social media, Galeano’s family reported him missing on December 5th. Galeano’s body was found the following day in the trunk of his car, wrapped in carpet, abandoned in a Lakeland Hills parking lot. The toxicology report returned positive results for drugs in Galeano’s system.
“In speaking with detectives, this investigation is still open and active. Releasing anything, especially regarding the moments prior to finding him would compromise the investigation,” stated Hirman.
Counterfeit currency:
Several local agencies have released warnings related to counterfeit money. Hirman shared that “we have cases of counterfeit currency recovered, but according to detectives and evidence techs, there has been no spike in frequency. I see about 1-2 a week coming in.”
