The Auburn City Council meets every second and fourth (and fifth if there is one) Monday evening for a study session. The city council is provided presentations, informational updates, and discuss ordinances and resolutions that are up for consideration during a study session.  No votes happen during a study session.

Agenda Items for Council Discussion

Ordinance No. 6859 (for discussion only)- Davis Property and Investment has requested an extension to complete conditions associated with a Right-of-Way Vacation previously approved by City Council in March 2020. The vacation is for the alley north of 3rd Street NE and between B Street NE and Auburn Avenue. A previous extension was granted by City Council on June 21, 2021, with the current deadline to complete the conditions of September 16, 2021 passed. City of Auburn staff support this extension

Ordinance No. 6865 (for discussion only) –  Amending a previously approved contract rezone to rezone one of four C-3, Heavy Commercial zoned properties to include “Live/Work” land use. A public hearing was held After a public hearing the Hearing Examiner recommended to City Council that the Auburn Townhomes contract rezone amendment be adopted without conditions.

Ordinance No. 6866 (for discussion only):  Amend An Ordinance amending Sections of the Auburn City Code, to conform to RCW changes resulting from ESSHB 1320. The new RCW chapter takes effect on July 1st, 2022

Ordinance No. 6867 (for discussion only): Repealing Section 9.34.030 of the Auburn City Code, related to discharging firearms within the City. In 2022 the State Supreme Court’s Bass v. City of Edmonds ruling declared the State holds the “full field” of firearms regulation, meaning State RCW preempts ACC 9.34.030.

Ordinance No. 6869 (for discussion only): Amending Auburn City Code to add enforcement measures related to repeat parking violations in City parking facilities. A “multiple offender” is considered parking within a 24 hour period and a corresponding infraction. The amendment also adds the ability to issue a trespass admonishment and/or impound the vehicle after an individual has been found by a Court to have committed 3 or more separately issue parking infractions at the specific location
