The Auburn School District Board of Directors recently recognized November’s Outstanding Staff Member and Student. November’s Oustanding Staff Member, Cindy Sherrod, is ASD’s assistant director of special education. Alyssa Truong, a fifth-grade student at Lakeland Hills Elementary, was recognized as the outstanding student.
Cindy Sherrod
Sherrod has been with the ASD for 15 years. She spent six years as an ASD school psychologist before becoming a coordinator and then assistant director in special education.
In her role, she provides support to all aspects of special education. She strives to make systemic differences for students with disabilities and loves working with students, staff, and
parents. She earned her bachelors in child development at Fresno State, her masters in school psychology at Eastern Washington University and finished her doctorate in educational leadership at the University of Washington Tacoma in 2016.

Truong, now in the fifth-grade, has attended Lakeland Hills Elementary since kindergarten. She is hard-working, polite, respectful and kind.
In the future, she plans to attend the University of Washington and become an accountant.
