Neely Mansion has been home to four immigrant families who lived and farmed at the property after the Neelys left the residence and returned to city life in the early 20th century. In recognition of its distinct history, the Neely Mansion Association is honoring the two Japanese immigrant families, the Fukudas and the Horis, who resided at the historic property from 1914 to the late 1930s.  The celebration takes place Saturday, August 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Seattle Writer Mayumi Tsutakawa will speak at 11:00 a.m. about her mother’s life, living in Los Angeles and Japan, then returning to the U.S., and incarceration during World War II. She and her husband George Tsutakawa became leaders in the cultural community, contributing to the development of Asian Arts in Seattle.
