Auburn Police Detectives are trying to piece together the events the lead up to a gunfight at the Belera Apartment Complex that left one man dead and three injured Friday night.

According to Auburn Police Commander Steve Stocker, the four men were engaged in an altercation at 9:45 pm when “a couple of guys pulled out guns and started firing.” One man, in his early 20’s, was killed at the scene.

Two of the involved parties were located at MultiCare Auburn Medical Center with minor injuries. Stocker confirmed the third man believed to be involved was admitted to Tacoma General Hospital, “in serious condition.”
Preliminary results of the investigation indicate the initial dispute was potentially related to drugs.

“Detectives last night spoke to some people who had some knowledge of the incident,” said Stocker. “This possibly – possibly – may have some gang ties, so we don’t know if we’re getting true statements.”

At this time it is believed that none of those involved lived at the complex. “[We] don’t know their ties to the complex, their ties to each other. We’re still trying to figure that all out,” said Stocker.

At least one gun and money were recovered at the scene. At this time, no one is in custody related to this incident.
